We had two phone interviews, one with the Store Manager and another with a different Store Manager in the same district. The interviews focused on my previous work history, accomplishments, and aspects of my management approach. We went over several hypothetical situations, and I explained how I'd managed similar circumstances before.

The initial interaction outside the store felt unprofessional. A sales associate greeted me and said she would inform the hiring manager, commenting that I "looked the part." I waited a bit while looking around before the manager appeared. The interview process involved an initial call and then scheduling an in-person meeting. I suspect it might be a way to appear open to recruiting, as the manager mentioned she already has an assistant manager and this would be for a second assistant manager role. They're still posting the same role even after months, which makes me wonder if it's just for show. It felt like a waste of time. She didn't even send a thank you after I sent one to her, and then ignored me after that. It was unprofessional not to send a note saying the job was filled, especially for someone in a leadership role.

I had a phone interview where I was told how awesome I was and how well my answers were received. I was told a 1:1 would be scheduled in a city closer to me, but then I never heard back. It felt very unprofessional, and I suspect it was because I wasn't enthusiastic about their very low salary, which isn't a living wage in Honolulu. They could have been upfront instead of ghosting me. I have no interest in working for this company.
