First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Whiskey Cake.
Hostess
The interview process was fairly easy. They offered to do orientation the next day. I spoke with two managers, but it wasn’t anything to be intimidated of. They ask a lot of questions about your past jobs and how they would relate to this job.
- Can you tell me about your previous customer service experience?
Server
The interview process was pretty short. First, I had to fill out a paper application. Then, they asked me some specific questions about whiskey and wines. They also spent some time explaining a lot about the restaurant and then set up a second interview. The interviewer was nice, but the questions were a bit unusual and not what I expected for a typical interview, which kept me on my toes.
- Can you explain the difference between rye whiskey and bourbon?
Bar Back
The interview process was pretty straightforward because they needed to hire bar backs fast. The General Manager reviewed my resume and asked some basic questions about my previous work experience. The Bar Manager was not part of the hiring process.
- Could you tell me about your responsibilities in your previous role?
Server
I applied for the job and got an interview the very next day. The interview went well, and even though I was nervous, the interviewer was really nice. They said they'd reach out about the next step, which would be an interview with a manager.
- Tell me about your previous work experience.
