Data Analyst
The interview process was straightforward, mostly focusing on my resume instead of technical skills, since the role is primarily data entry-focused. After the initial screening, there was a standard 30-minute Excel test. Then, four technical interview rounds happened. HR was very responsive and kept me updated via email. Despite great feedback, it took a long time for the team to give a final decision, and I was ultimately rejected. The long wait after interviews was disappointing.
- What were your main duties in your previous role at [XYZ Company]?
- Could you tell me about the work you did while employed at [XYZ Company]?
Business Analyst
The interview process was straightforward and quite frankly fun. The initial phone screening included the normal questions i.e what are your most recents experiences?, What are you looking for… I was also given a lot of information about the company that you typically do not get in the phone screeners which I appreciated. The whole process moved rather quickly. Interview with HR First round with hiring manager Second round with a VP, and SVP Third Round with a Director and Project Manager The interviews were more conversational which I liked. It allowed me to get a feel for the culture and to be myself as well.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage a difficult client, either internal or external?
- Describe your typical approach to gathering requirements from clients.
Project Coordinator
After I applied, the recruiter reached out on LinkedIn and was really nice and helpful. She suggested I move on to the hiring manager. The hiring manager, however, was super unprofessional. He didn't seem interested in why I wanted to join the company or what I'd done before. He asked a bunch of hypothetical questions that felt really random and out of the blue. Honestly, he was one of the rudest people I've interviewed with. While asking his "questions," he kept looking at another monitor and browsing the internet. I guess he thought I wouldn't notice his mouse clicking?
- What would you do if Google wasn't working, prior to contacting tech support?
- How would you tell a manager that you couldn't finish a project on time?
Data Engineer
I interviewed for both Director and Lead Data Engineer roles. When I was onsite, I was informed that key panel members were on vacation and I would need to return for another interview. Later, when I asked for an update, they said they had hired someone for the Director role and wanted to consider me for the Lead role. When I followed up again, I was told the hiring manager was on vacation. It felt like they were just interviewing for the sake of it rather than genuinely looking to hire. I still don't have a clear answer on whether they want to proceed with my profile. My advice to management is to hire when there's a real need, as it gives candidates hope. At least provide honest feedback.
