First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WestRock.
Maintenance Manager
It was pretty straightforward. Mostly talking about my experience and how I'd handle issues. They also mentioned a problem employee situation. They didn't list all the duties upfront. Took a bit to hear back about a second interview, then got the offer.
- What kind of industrial equipment have you had experience with?
Pricing Manager
It was a super long and disorganized interview process. I had two phone interviews, then a really extensive take-home case study, and the final round was an in-person interview. The onsite schedule was four hours, and they actually changed the details and who would be interviewing me after I got there. I ended up spending over four hours and a half day of vacation on this 'Final Round Interview' where they had brought in 4-5 candidates. Sadly, none of us got hired. The job was still up months later and they filled it. They treated candidates incredibly poorly.
- A lengthy case study was presented.
Manager
Meadwestvaco has this way of doing things. First, they look at your resume and have a chat about your background. Then, they ask questions like "X is a key thing for doing well in this role. Tell me about a time you had to (do something that shows X)." For instance, "Good managers need good judgment and conviction. Tell me about a time you made a decision that wasn't popular but you went with it anyway."
- Describe a situation where you had to demonstrate X, given that X is a crucial factor for success in this job.
- Can you share an instance where you made an unpopular decision and stood by it?
- Given 8 identical marbles where one is heavier, and a scale that holds up to 10 marbles per side, what is the minimum number of weighings needed to find the heavier marble, and what is the procedure?
