Had a Zoom screening interview first, then an in-person second round. It's pretty clear once you're in the office that they hire a specific type of person, and qualifications or how well you answer questions don't seem to matter much.

Had a phone call with the Housing Director for my dorm. I had to answer a few questions and do the usual job interview stuff. The job is available at pretty much any dorm, and it's easy to swap shifts with others.

The interview had many questions about the job and some situation questions like 'tell me about a time you did [xyz]'. For this job, there was a hiring committee in the screening interview. Although I didn't get the job, the main hiring manager was helpful. I sent a follow-up email asking for feedback. She set up a phone call for feedback and criticism, and she even sent me another job listing. I was expecting short notes by email, but she did much more to help me understand what I did well and what I could improve on. As someone new to job searching, I really appreciate this experience and the kindness from the Office of Scholar Development at WKU. If this is how they treat candidates, I know they must be great with students!

My interview process involved a Skype call and then an on-campus visit. The initial Skype interview was brief, about 15 minutes, and covered my ideas on teaching and my educational philosophy. The on-campus part was more involved. It started with a dinner the evening before. The next day, I had to give a teaching presentation and meet with the search committee. I also got a tour of the campus. A key part was a skills assessment where I watched a video of a teacher having a tough time with a student during an observation. I then had to act as a coach for a professor who was playing the role of that struggling student.
