Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Western Asset Management.
Senior Analyst
In-person interview at the office. They make you feel very comfortable in a conversation where they are super detailed about the job routines. There were two moments where the area supervisors interview you separately with more specific information about their own area.
- Can you describe your technical experience relevant to this field?
Analyst
It was a standard interview process. First, I had a phone screen where they asked me to introduce myself, about my interest in the company, and some behavioral questions. About two weeks later, I had a 45-minute interview focusing on my fit for the role and technical skills.
- Could you tell me about yourself?
- What about this company interests you?
- Why did you choose us?
Analyst
Was contacted by a recruiter, then had a phone call with HR, then another phone call with the manager. After that, I got an invite for an in-person interview. The on-site interview was about 4 hours long. I met with a bunch of people from the team I would be reporting to, mostly in groups. Then I met with supervisors and managers from other teams, and finally a senior manager. Most of the questions were pretty standard and some were really lame questions that didn't really give any insight into fit or competency from a couple of the managers. Great.
- The only challenging questions asked were irrelevant, so I pointed that out to them.
