Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Western Alliance Bank.
Credit Analyst
First, I spoke with the recruiter. About two weeks after that, I was asked to meet with the hiring manager. They mentioned that they were still in the early stages and wouldn't decide for about a month. I reached out to the recruiter again after three weeks, but got no reply. Then, I tried contacting the hiring manager, but again, no response. It felt like a complete waste of my time and effort.
- Can you tell me about your resume?
Credit Analyst
I applied online and then had a phone screening. After that, I met with the managing team and the HR rep. The phone interview was super basic, just asking about my past jobs and what salary I was looking for. The second interview was with management, and they mostly talked about the job and what they were looking for. The third interview was with HR and was all about my career goals. They also explained the company culture and wanted to see if I was a good fit for the bank and if the bank was a good fit for me.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience and salary expectations?
- Describe a time you didn't achieve the desired outcome and how you managed it.
- What are your career aspirations?
Credit Analyst
It was a pretty straightforward interview. I talked to the HR Director and the hiring manager for about an hour. They wanted me to meet with the Chief Credit Officer right away, but he wasn't available. They said they'd call to set up a time, but instead, I got an email three weeks later saying they picked someone who was a better fit. The job is still posted on their website.
- How do you learn from your mistakes?
