Once you get accepted into the university Graduate program, you can work with a professor. This is how the hiring process works here. If you identify your professor and their research group, or if the department gives you a Teaching Assistant job, they will determine your salary. The interviews are not that hard. Read the research project reports and publications of the professors you want to work with. You'll find some professors advertise their work on the university/department webpage.

It was a long interview process, but they covered a lot. They asked some good questions, but mostly they talked about themselves. I wanted to know more about the actual job and what a typical day would be like. They could have done a better job of explaining how much time is needed for the project.
