First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at West Georgia Technical College.
Human Resources Technician
Applied for the job, and about a week later I got a call to schedule the interview. There wasn't a phone screen. The interview was with a panel of 5 HR people. It felt pretty relaxed, and they were all really nice. The interview itself went for about 30-45 minutes. Each person on the panel asked their questions one by one. The questions weren't too hard. I'm not sure if I'll get an offer yet, but it was a good experience overall.
- The questions weren't difficult.
Admissions Counselor
I was in a panel interview with the supervisor for admissions, the head supervisor, and a supervisor from another WGTC campus. They all went around the table asking regular interview questions. I think I answered at least 25-30 questions. Most of them were "tell me about a time when..." type questions. At the end of the interview, I had to present (they said no powerpoint) a presentation of how I would address high school students who are struggling with making a decision about going to college. They told me I was going to get a call if whether or not I received a job offer, however I was never contacted so of course I didn't get an offer.
- What software programs are you familiar with?
- How would you handle an angry person who wants to enroll in school?
- Do you have experience working in admissions?
Financial Aid Specialist
I applied online and got a phone screening a week later. Then I had an in-person interview with a panel of 5 people. I got there 15 minutes early, but they were just finishing lunch, so I had to wait another 10-15 minutes for them to eat. After they were done, they called me in. Each person had a packet of questions and asked one each.
- Do you have experience in financial aid?
Adjunct Instructor
The interview went pretty well. There were 5 people on the panel, and I don't think any of them were in my field, but the whole process felt positive overall. The interviewers were friendly and supportive. The questions weren't difficult; they were generally aimed at assessing my skills and capabilities for the job.
