So, the telephone interview, right, they told me I'd be trained for two months on dayshift, and then become the night shift planer operator. When I came in for the actual interview, they said the same thing. But then, on my first day of work, they told me I'd be on dayshift for only two weeks, and then go to nights. They also said I'd be sent to school and have a chance to move up in pay and skills. None of that really happened until the very end of my time there. I only went to one class and they weren't sure when I could go back.

Applied, received an email. Scheduled an initial interview. Two days later, Talent Acquisition cancelled and rescheduled. The new interview time arrived, but no one showed up. Sent a follow-up email with no response. Sent another email, this time copying someone senior. Finally got a reply and the interview was set up. Did the interview. My qualifications seemed to match the role well, and I was waiting for the second interview with the hiring manager. Got a rejection email very quickly, within a few business hours.

I had a sit-down interview with HR and people from the Accounting department, three people in total. It lasted about an hour and included a short exercise to check my numeric ability. They asked a lot of behavioral questions, along with a few accounting-specific ones. It was a really pleasant interview, and I felt they were serious about hiring and valued the position by being careful in their selection. It did take a while to hear back, and there was some radio silence near the end.

You'll have two rounds: one with the Finance Supervisor about finance stuff, reporting, and solving problems, and another with the Director about leadership, if you fit strategically, and cultural alignment. Make sure to prep STAR stories, know about West Fraser's business, how you've helped control costs, and have some good questions ready about challenges, growth, and working together on a team.
