I went through the interview process for a Product Manager role at Wellthy, and it took about a month from start to finish. It started with a recruiter chat, then I talked to the hiring manager and the CTO, and it all wrapped up with a case study presentation. The case study part was a bit of a red flag for me. They wanted me to create a six-month roadmap for one of their current new products. Usually, good companies don't ask for this kind of thing, preferring to give you a neutral problem to solve instead. Still, I put a lot of work into it, creating a 12-page product requirements document that included user research, discovery, and a clear strategy for delivering value. After I presented it, I got zero feedback or any kind of follow-up. It's been over three weeks now, and even after I tried to follow up with the recruiter, I haven't heard anything back, not even a generic rejection. This lack of communication is pretty unprofessional and a real waste of a candidate's time and effort. It makes it seem like they were just trying to get free work done through the interview process. So, I'd tell others to be careful about this with Wellthy.

So first, there was this online take-home assessment, it was pretty basic. Then I had a chat with some engineering leadership. After that, it was a virtual onsite. The onsite had a few parts: first, a technical discussion where we went deep into projects I'd done before. Second, a round that wasn't technical, focusing more on how I communicate and collaborate. Third, we did a whiteboarding session to talk about architecture and design stuff.

I had a 30-minute initial interview that seemed really promising, especially since I have over 8 years of field experience in behavioral health. They mentioned the next steps would be a case study assignment followed by a more in-depth interview with the team. Casually, I was told to spend no more than 30-40 minutes on the assignment and to submit it within 24 hours of the interview. However, after receiving and reviewing the assignment, I was shocked by its complexity. The instructions weren't clear, and some requirements seemed unreasonable, especially considering I work full-time. It ended up taking me four hours, with no acknowledgment of candidates' full-time commitments. I did my best with the limited time. I received a rejection email this morning. Honestly, I think it might be a blessing in disguise because if this is how the company expects people to operate, it's not the right fit for me. It had a vibe of 'here's a complex project, and I need it done yesterday.' Wellthy, please be more considerate of your candidates' time. I'm not sure why companies are dumping these demanding 'assignments' on candidates these days; there are better ways to assess competency.

I spoke with the corporate recruiter at Wellthy and it was a good chat. They were nice, professional, and explained the company and job well. Then I interviewed with the Chief Administrative Officer. I was surprised by the question 'What do you want to be when you grow up?', it felt weird and made me uncomfortable. I also didn't like hearing negative things about the CEO. It made me wonder about the work environment and how management talks to people. I also noticed the job was posted for over 3 months and is still open, which makes me question their hiring. I think Wellthy could be a good place, but this experience has me concerned about the interviews and the culture.
