The interview process had a couple of big problems. WellPower says they care about mental health and DEI, and they have a big DEI team, which is good. But it felt more ideological than really progressive. For the final round, I had to do two big assignments. I did them exactly as told, but a few hours before the interview, they said it wasn't what they wanted. Turns out they gave the wrong instructions. They asked if I'd redo the assignment without pay, even though the job's salary was below market. They didn't apologize until I pushed them about it multiple times and said I wouldn't continue. After the final round, I just got an automated rejection and a survey. I emailed the hiring manager and never heard back. I never found out why they didn't move forward. It was a bad experience and made WellPower seem like they want to do good with DEI but are actually dehumanizing in practice.

They were quick to offer me both a first and second interview. Even though there were multiple people in both interviews, it wasn't intimidating. The first interview focused more on technical aspects to check if I was qualified overall. The second interview was to see how well I'd fit with the team. Both interviews were casual, and they really encouraged me to ask my own questions. Good luck!

Four part process. First you talk to a manager, second you upload videos for an interview that over 16 people will watch. Third, you interview with more people and give a prepared presentation. So many steps and it takes forever. The recorded video took me about 1.5 hours to record and it's presented as a few simple questions - there are EIGHT questions and you can record them up to three times. It's more like making a documentary than a quick interview. I hate jobs that require extra homework after you've already gotten through two interviews. The worst part was the interviewer condescendingly chastising me for saying I was an expert in diversity. She said 'we don’t believe that anyone is an expert in diversity.' I have a PhD in cultural anthropology, which is the study of human diversity. Having someone from a mental health center gaslight me into thinking I'm not an expert with a PhD in human diversity is a big red flag, so glad they didn’t hire me!

Got a call a few weeks after applying. The office manager described the MHCD mission, the hours and job description, and set up an interview for the next week. I met with a supervisor who was really nice and we chatted. She talked about the clients, what the job entails, and the work culture which is focused on wellness, both physical and mental. Apparently, there's no office drama because they deal with enough of that in the field. We went over my resume and past experience, and they asked about 7 general questions. They asked about my driver's license, conflict resolution, and my favorite and least favorite parts of past jobs. The interview lasted about 30-45 minutes. After that, I had a really long background check that included something like an IQ test and a sample of clinical notes.
