First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wellmark.
Data Analyst Intern
Had a behavioral interview with the recruiter asking basic STAR questions. Then there was a panel interview where they went over my resume and past experience, and asked more behavioral questions. The whole interview process went really smoothly and everyone was very friendly.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What motivates you to apply for this role?
- Could you describe a situation where you applied data analysis to resolve an issue?
Data Scientist
It was a comprehensive process with preparation materials shared by recruiter. 1) recruiter screen 2) HM interview - SQL based 3) Team Member (probability, statistics, ML) 4) Team Member [data visualization] 5) Director [Case study].
- Questions about SQL Joins, Min/Max, Avg etc.
- Questions on probability, statistics, and ML.
- Questions on data visualization.
Business Analyst Team Lead
The interview process seemed fine initially, but since the role was for a team lead, the interviewer asked if I'd be open to a senior analyst position instead. They mentioned an internal candidate and that they might hire them for the lead role, and then look for a new analyst. Since I wasn't interested in an analyst role, which would be a lateral move at best, I was really disappointed to hear I might not even be interviewing for the job I applied for. They wanted to schedule the full interview, but I declined because I wasn't sure what position I was actually interviewing for.
- Can you tell me about your past experiences?
- Can you tell me about your technical skills?
Analytics Associate
So I got rejected after the final round at Wellmark. It started with a recruiter call, then a technical interview with a team member that included both behavioral and technical questions. Then, I had three more interviews with different team leaders, also a mix of behavioral and technical. Five interviews felt like a lot, and I noticed some questions were repeated. I think I did okay on the technical parts though.
- Can you explain joining datasets and discuss your knowledge of SQL joins?
- Explain Bayes' theorem.
- Why are you interested in Wellmark?
