This was a pretty standard interview process. I spoke with the hiring manager and her manager, who has a lot of HR experience. They asked typical behavioral and competency questions. It felt like they were trying to weed out people who aren't up-to-date with current HR practices. The experienced HR manager asked me to define various HR acronyms, which I found a bit old-fashioned; I think HR is more about empathy and supporting employees. To top it off, the recruiter never followed up after I interviewed about a month ago, which is disappointing. You'd expect better communication, especially since HR professionals tend to know each other.

A recruiter reached out about the role. Then, 48 hours before the interview, I got a practical challenge. The interview itself was 2 hours long. The first hour was another content creation challenge, and the second hour was presenting my ideas. I really liked this structure because it let me showcase my skills. They offered me the job, but then withdrew it because I didn't have a degree, despite my 12 years of experience.

The whole thing took a while. Got a call from a recruiter about 6 weeks ago. Did a screener with him but then he didn't call me back for another 2 weeks to tell me I was moving on. Then another 2 weeks went by and he rang to give me the time/date and location. The actual interview was simple but I didn't get the offer. Process was too long and felt that my time was mostly wasted.
