First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Welch Packaging.
General Laborer
I met with the plant manager and supervisor for the first round. Then, I had a separate meeting with the general manager on a different day. The whole process took about two weeks and included a background check and pre-employment drug testing. It was a pretty straightforward process overall.
- Can you explain how to read a tape measure?
Warehouse Associate
It was quick and questions about my availability. How soon I could start. Would I be willing to do a drug test (?) I accepted and passed. What shift I preferred? I choose second shift. My interview hired me. I started right away. The interviewer was a black woman who warned me there would be racism at the job. I wasn't concerned about that it didn't serve me any purpose. I was excited about a new career in logistics. Had a second interview with a male supervisor, who thought I was too professional and attractive to work in that environment, but he said okay I'll give you a chance!
- Asked for my identification verification?
- Asked have I ever worked in logistics?
- Asked would I be okay with the machinery and environment?
Machine Operator/Forklift Driver
The interview was very friendly and welcoming, making me feel great about the company. All the information was explained clearly, and the questions asked were perfect for a job interview. The interviewer's tone and smile were fantastic, making me feel valued and appreciated. It was everything you could want in an interview, and I'm so glad I chose this job!
- What qualities do you seek in a supervisor?
Graphic Designer
So I had this interview for a graphic designer role. It was a group interview over the phone, with the director and another designer, since I was out of state at the time. They were really nice, and it went for about 45 minutes. They asked a bunch of questions, covering things like personality, teamwork, and specific graphic design stuff. They said they'd let me know soon, but I never heard back at all, not even a rejection email.
- Can you share an instance where you had a conflict with a coworker and describe how you resolved it?
- Which of your designed pieces is your favorite, and what's the reason behind that choice?
