They had a couple of rounds of interviews, and then an in-person meeting at the office. This included meeting with the hiring manager, people from other teams, some of the leadership, and the CEO.
- Can you share your experience?
Designer
I applied and spoke with a recruiter, sending over some PDFs of my work. They liked what they saw and set up a Zoom call, which they initially missed but rescheduled. The call seemed to go well, they said they were very impressed. Then, I got a project. Even though it was Q4 and my busiest time, I buckled down and did it because I was really excited about the role. They said the project was exceptional and invited me for an in-person interview. I got a questionnaire beforehand asking for standard info, like my birthdate for booking flights. I wasn't sure about giving it due to age discrimination fears, but I did it because I needed them to book my travel. The next day, they told me the job was 'on hold after careful consideration.' This was after 6-8 weeks of talking and after they assured me my work was good. I asked about possible age bias, and the recruiter clarified. The answer was rough: they said my work didn't match their Designer level. They claimed my mood boards weren't clear and didn't show runway trends, which I thought was wrong and went against what they said before. My mood boards were made carefully to mix what the customer likes with runway trends, including stuff like fringe, feathers, and big roses – all trendy that season. I changed things to fit different customer groups. The sudden criticism felt like an easy excuse, not real feedback. If my work was bad, I wouldn't have gotten this far with them arranging travel for an in-person interview. Plus, the job is still posted and they're still hiring, which doesn't make sense if it's 'on hold.' It's hard not to think about giving them my birthdate and then their sudden change of plans. I looked into the company and their current designers. My portfolio was as good as or better than what they had. I have years of experience, went to good schools, and have a history of success. I really wanted this job and to help the team. It's disappointing and unprofessional to have my work dismissed like this and feel like I faced age discrimination. I'm sharing this so others don't go through it. If you want a place that values diversity, talent, and support, look somewhere else. I've never been treated like this by a potential employer in my whole career. It shows their culture, and I'm glad I didn't end up there. Sometimes not getting a job is a good thing.
- Can you tell me about your past work experience?
Buyer
The interview process was pretty messy. It felt like most of the people I talked to hadn't even looked at my résumé or knew I was supposed to be there. It took up a lot of my time, and people were often late or the interviews went way over the scheduled time.
- Tell me about any dance experience you have.
Business Analyst
The interview process was too long, lasting two hours and involving repetitive questions. It felt disorganized, with everyone in the room at once. The interview really should only be an hour; I felt exhausted after such a long interview. Questions were asked repeatedly, and it should have been more efficient, with everyone present to get it done.
- Can you describe your current responsibilities?
