Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Weir ESCO.
Engineer
It was pretty straightforward. First, they asked me about my past experiences and how they align with the responsibilities of the position. Then, I had a chat with my future boss's boss, who also asked a few questions about my background and seemed happy about the possibility of me joining the team.
- How do you think you'd handle interactions with operators or shop floor personnel?
Engineering
It was a student co-op engineering role. The interview felt pretty chill, mostly asking about my strongest subject, skills from past jobs, and if I'd be a good fit culturally. A big topic was lean management, since that's how they run things. I'd researched it, so I felt good about that part, and the interviewer seemed pleased. It was more like a conversation, but sadly, I didn't get an offer.
- What skills did you acquire from your prior employment?
Design Engineer
It was a multi-level interview process involving different engineering groups. I had both individual and panel interviews. The Engineering Manager gave me a timed engineering test that was based on common sense. Expect engineers to challenge you with problem-solving questions and to be questioned thoroughly.
- Can you brainstorm as many ways as possible to join two steel plates together?
