Product Manager
Had a 45min first interview over zoom. The interviewer got a message during the interview and a few minutes of interview time were taken up dealing with that, saying 'this is really important'. The interviewer didn't really allow me to finish my answers, it felt like they wanted me to end my answer by them saying 'okay, cool' or 'okay fine'. It seemed like they had a number of questions they wanted to get through in the time we had. It comes across that there is a disconnect between onshore/offshore team. This was apparent within the first 10 minutes of company and culture description. While I don't expect anyone (interviewer/interviewee) to show up in suit & tie on zoom, I wasn't expecting the interviewer in comfortable attire, what looked like a robe. If I am putting professional attire on, the least I expect is a T-Shirt. The interviewer did not seem ready for the interview in many aspects.
- Can you tell me about a product that you're particularly proud of?
- What was the outcome of that product's launch?
- What kind of company culture helps you to work well and succeed?
VP Marketing
Before committing to the 5 interview rounds, ask all your questions about the company upfront, like their annual revenue, funding, and salary range. They might not be able to pursue or might want to take a risk on accomplished mid-to-senior level candidates. The CEO asked for my written input on their latest brand strategy, so they'll probably probe you for strategies or ideas too. Interviewing multiple candidates made them realize they might want to change the job description, which they told me in the final interview. Just be careful and read all the Glassdoor reviews beforehand. Do your due diligence before investing more time with the interviews.
- Why did you not download a demo?
- Are you not researching our company enough?
- How would you organize the marketing team?
Operations Lead
So I had 4 interviews, 2 were group interviews and 2 had role play/action items. The team seemed disorganized and couldn't give real feedback. I thought I would get an offer but they said they canceled the job and stopped all interviews. Then they reposted the job with no changes, and it's been open for 8 months. If it's not a fit, be honest. If you have time, give feedback. Lying is a red flag. It seems like I dodged a bullet. The role is very needed based on what they shared.
- What would be your response to specific situations?
Program Manager
The hiring manager found me on LinkedIn and sent over four program management questions for me to answer. He got back to me the next day and asked to schedule a first call on Zoom. After that, I had two hour-long back-to-back interviews with VPs and directors. The final round was with the hiring manager and the CEO. The hiring manager kept me updated the whole time and was really nice. They also gave me direct feedback after the process.
- Tell me about a time you worked well with a manager.
- Tell me about a time you did not work well with a manager.
