You apply online and then wait for the position to close. Then all applicants are vetted. It can take a couple of weeks for the committee to decide who they want to interview. After the interview, they warn you that it can take a while to get through the HR process before they can offer a job. It took 4 weeks before I heard anything. Then I had to do a background check and wait on that before I was officially offered the position.

The hiring process was super well-planned and managed. Applying took a lot of effort in preparing documents, but it felt purposeful. For instance, a document on teaching philosophy was requested, which I figured the panel would use to see if my approach matched the Business School's. The actual interview day was pretty much all day. It kicked off with lunch with key faculty, which I liked because it was more relaxed and less stressful. I did get a lot of questions during lunch though! It became clear during lunch that my potential colleagues shared my views on education, and I was impressed by the Dept. Chair's humor. I got a good vibe and felt I'd be happy working with them. After lunch, there were several short interviews with key faculty, including the Dean. Then, I had a short break before teaching a class. This was the most nerve-wracking part. I had enough notice and support to prepare, but it's still intense being observed. After my class, I was thanked by the faculty, and one person explained the next steps. Overall, the whole thing felt very professional, and all the activities seemed right for picking a good candidate. By the end of the day, I felt I'd done well and was optimistic. It seemed like a fair and balanced process, and I was confident that if I wasn't chosen, it was because someone else was a genuinely better fit or performed better.

The whole thing was super fast, like less than a week from when they first called me to the phone interview. Then, just a few days later, they had me come in for a face-to-face. They let me know the decision the very next day. Even though I'd done reception work before, they didn't hire me because I don't know Spanish.

I had back-to-back interviews, which was kinda exhausting. I wasn't given much info about the job during the interview, and after I got the offer, it was even less. The job was in an IT department, but they didn't want IT work, yet they asked me IT questions.
