It was pretty nice and I was always smiling and talking because they were just so nice and always making me smile and talk. But like, sometimes I didn't always smile, so that was a breaker and I had to decline them.

The process was clear from the start, and I was always informed about what to expect next. The technical challenges felt fair and aligned with the daily tasks of the role, which was a nice change. Scheduling an interview time was straightforward using a third-party calendar, allowing me to easily select a convenient slot. In total, there were about four stages, and the entire process took a few months from beginning to end.

This was a really long process with a lot of unnecessary steps before you even knew if you wanted to work there. Usually, it starts with a quick phone screen to check if you're a good fit, but not here. First, you had to call and leave a voicemail pitching yourself as a 'sales all star'. Then, you waited and eventually got an email with a research project. It wasn't too hard but took time, and I still didn't know much about the specific position beyond the description and company website, which was annoying because I was spending so much time on something I might not even be interested in. Lastly, there was a phone screen with the CEO where he asked really basic, standard resume questions, the kind you get for part-time retail jobs. For each role, he wanted to know your biggest strength (even if you'd already said it in your pitch) and biggest weakness. He made selling web dev services to car companies sound way harder than it is and seriously inflated the commission earning potential. I found this out by talking to a current and former employee who confirmed my suspicions.

After they reviewed my application, I had a preliminary phone interview. It wasn't very in-depth and didn't really allow for a proper discussion to understand the role better. It was basically a list of about 10 questions asking about my years of experience in certain areas, which could have been easily answered or inferred from my resume. The only question I felt I needed to ask at the end was about compensation, but the interviewer couldn't or wouldn't provide an answer. It felt like a complete waste of time.
