First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wayne J. Griffin Electric.
Apprentice
Still waiting to hear back after a week. They did contact my reference and called him multiple times during the workday, but thankfully he was able to call them back on the third day.
- Could you tell me about the tools you've used?
Project Manager
Wayne reached out to me directly and I initially declined his offer. However, other staff members later contacted me to encourage me to reconsider. A lot of the interaction was just Griffen talking about himself and his achievements, while also bad-mouthing my current employer. I already knew how toxic the environment is at WJG and how litigious he can be, so I wasn't fooled into accepting the job offer.
- Would you be willing to compromise your principles to work here?
- Is this a mandatory requirement for employment?
- Have you thoroughly reviewed external feedback about the company?
Human Resources Generalist
I applied via email and got a call to schedule a phone screen. The phone screen went well, and I was invited to interview with the Director of HR. About a week later, I was asked to complete pre-employment screenings and then invited back to meet with one of the owners and the Dir of HR again for about an hour. A few weeks passed with no word, so I followed up a couple of times via email and left a voicemail, only to be told that 'no decision was made yet.' Months later, after 3.5 months total, I got a letter saying they chose an alternate candidate. As an HR professional, I can't fathom working in an environment with this hiring process. I'm glad I wasn't offered the position and found a better employer.

Human Resources Professional
I had an interesting phone screen, which I'll call round 1. A few weeks later, I had a face-to-face interview with the hiring manager (round 2), which felt super rushed and was crammed into 1/2 hour. I imagine I was one of many scheduled back to back that day. The hiring manager showed no interest in being there. From the onsite interview, it has been 2 full months with no follow up from Griffin. I've sent 3 or 4 emails of inquiry, and left one voicemail (my last attempt) requesting some sort of response, whether good or bad. Nothing. Considering the hiring manager is a senior level HR professional, and I'm interviewing for an HR professional position, it seems unbelievable to me that there is simply no follow through, good or bad, to close this process. I suppose it's just as well as I would have difficulty working within these practices. I'm certain this review will clinch my blacklist position, but I really could care less at this point. I will share my feedback with any other HR pro I happen to speak to about this. How embarrassing for the HR community.
