First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Waymo.
Technical Recruiter
This was a contract role. Started with an initial call, then a three-person panel interview. The process was pretty straightforward and they moved quickly. It wasn't rushed but it was very business-focused because they were hiring a lot.
- Tell me about something you are most proud of and your most recent failure.
Technical Recruiter
An internal recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn to gauge my interest in an opportunity. I replied with my availability for a call, and after a week's delay, the recruiter apologized and asked for my availability again. I provided new times, and then waited two more weeks. The recruiter then resurfaced, asking if I was still available for a slot I'd offered two weeks prior. I confirmed I was, but received no confirmation of the interview. Despite this, the recruiter called. The interview itself was standard, focusing heavily on metrics and sourcing, with no discussion of hiring manager collaboration, stakeholder engagement, or past projects. I did get to ask questions, and when inquiring about the team, I learned the role was based in San Francisco and required relocation. This crucial detail was omitted during our initial three-week communication.
- Could you tell me how many positions you have successfully filled?
- Is sourcing a part of your current responsibilities?
- Which specific roles have you recruited for, or are you presently recruiting for?
Technical Recruiter
The interview process was fast but the last two interviews seemed rushed. One interview being cut from the process the same day with very little notice. The first couple of interviewers were nice and I would've liked to work with them but the Manager I would've reported too was not prepared for the interview and did not leave much time for questions.
