First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Waxing the City.
Studio Coordinator
It was a short but kinda intense interview. The owner really wanted someone who was serious about the job because she had tons of people who would quit because of college. You didn't need to know a lot, but you had to know how to respond like in customer service.
- What is it that motivates you?
Licensed Esthetician
It was a quick call, pretty straightforward. They were a bit cagey about the salary, which is a bummer because that's what everyone wants to know upfront. It seems like a standard waxing studio with a rigid schedule.
- Can you tell me about your availability?
- Are you willing to work a flexible schedule?
Studio Coordinator
I found this job on indeed, where it said there were 50 other people who applied. I checked back about 3 days later to see if they got my resume, and they mentioned they were still reviewing applications. Later that day, they rang me for a phone interview that lasted 35 minutes. After that, they scheduled me for an in-person interview. They asked quite a few questions, especially considering it was basically for a receptionist-level job. The in-person interview mainly focused on salary and my availability. I did receive an offer, but I didn't accept because of the salary they were offering. Plus, I'd have to buy a parking pass and work every Sunday, which made it totally unappealing. The place itself was lovely, and everyone was really nice.
- How would you deal with challenging customers?
- Can you work on weekends?
- Which do you prefer: working alone or as part of a team?
Cerologist
First I had a one on one with a manager/trainer. She asked me questions like why WTC? and What are you looking for in an employer. The interview was easy. Then they asked if I could do a technical interview right after. They found a model and I waxed the model's arm. If your not proficient at waxing dont worry, they offer great training! Then they called me back to let me know I had the position.
- Why Waxing the City and why are you interested in waxing?
- Are you okay with not offering other services?
