First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Waterford.org.
Research Associate
I applied online and got an online assessment two days later. It had two parts: creating a data visualization and critiquing a research plan. Then, in mid-January, I had an initial screening interview with a recruiter, followed by the hiring manager interview 10 days later. The hiring manager was strict and impatient, and didn't seem to respect me, just throwing questions and trying to end the interview quickly.
- Regarding the research plan critique, how would you suggest improving the evaluation approach?
- Tell me about a research design question.
- What is a strength of yours?
Program Coach
After I sent in my application, a recruiter reached out to schedule a call to see if I'd be a good fit. We set up an interview for the next week, and the whole process went really well. The hiring managers, who are also team leads for the program coach role, made me feel super comfortable, even though I usually get nervous. They said they'd get back to me soon, and they actually sent scenario questions that same evening. The recruiter stayed in touch throughout the process, letting me know about the next steps. It was honestly the best interview experience I've had in a while!
- What are your thoughts on maintaining a structured schedule and staying organized?
Program Manager
I applied and within a few days was given an assessment to complete. It took about two hours and involved creating a program charter, identifying and outlining roles, and building a work breakdown and success criteria. After submitting it, the recruiter contacted me within 48 hours. We had a 30-minute call, and at the end, I was informed the hiring manager was unavailable that week but would contact me the following week to set up an interview with her. Unfortunately, I never heard back.
- Tell me about your project management experience.
- What motivates you to want to work at this company?
- Could you elaborate on your experience in creating program charters?
Partner Success Advocate
It was a 3-step interview process. First, I met with the HR recruiter. After that interview, she scheduled me to interview with the Partner Success Advocate Manager. We had a great conversation and discussed many things about the job. Then, they contacted me to set up another interview with the School Relations Director. They were all really nice and seemed genuinely interested in my skills and what I could contribute to Waterford.
- Could you start by telling me a bit about yourself and what sparked your interest in this particular job opening?
- What is your understanding of Waterford and its work in Early Literacy Skills?
- Can you share an instance of a significant goal you've set previously and how you successfully achieved it?
