So I had this interview that included a presentation in a small meeting room. They had me stand at the end of the meeting table to present and they cut me off exactly when my time was up. It was awkward because they didn't provide a remote presenter, so I had to use their keyboard. The interview itself was fine, most people were nice. But then getting my costs reimbursed was a nightmare. It took two months, and they only sent 70% of the airfare they promised, even though it was just coach. They wouldn't reimburse the rental car fare even though it was only $34 for a day, and they still shorted me another $100 on the airfare/package. It was hard to get anyone on the phone about it. I thought it was cheap they didn't even offer a campus tour for a 1-hour interview in MI. It was the worst experience I've had in higher education. They didn't even call or email to tell me I wasn't selected, I had to call twice. Then they said they sent an email, which I got after I called. After that, I waited another month for my partial reimbursement. I'd be careful about spending your own money to interview there, they don't seem to value your interest or investment.

I saw the opening on the school's jobs website and applied with my transcript, cover letter, and resume. After about two weeks, I got an email to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview was straightforward, asking about math classes taken, their content, and grades received. A few days later, I was invited for an in-person interview with the Director. Initially, it was just me and the Director, but the Assistant Director joined later. This in-person meeting was more of an orientation; they already intended to hire me, but it was a required formality. I was advised to wear business casual, as the campus vibe is pretty relaxed.

So the interview started a bit late and they didn't really do many intros in the main office where it was held because other stuff was going on. The actual interview was pretty stagnant and tense the whole time. It felt like the hardest social interview I've had navigating all these processes, and the most tense and socially unresponsive. The vibe was just off the whole time.

I started out Part-Time and was put forward for a Full-Time role by my boss. For the Full-Time interview, I spoke with the executive director of Facilities Operations and my boss. I felt really good talking with her and wasn't stressed at all. The questions were pretty straightforward.
