Reading Interventionist
In 2019, before COVID, I went to the office for my interview. The principal gave me a tour of the school's hallways. We peeked into classrooms through windows but didn't actually go inside to watch any teaching. I then did a demo lesson with four kids, followed by a debrief with the principal. I accidentally ran into the executive director in the stairwell as I was leaving, and she introduced us.
- Can you explain how you would teach children the skill of segmenting words into their individual sounds?
Recruiter
Charlie Ortiz, the Executive Director, reached out after my resume was submitted by a reliable agency. He was punctual for our scheduled screening call and had thoroughly reviewed my resume beforehand. During our conversation, he asked questions directly related to the responsibilities of the contract position at WHIN. Charlie appeared receptive to my feedback and suggestions, demonstrating an openness to new concepts and areas for development. It was evident that he had a clear vision for the role and its contribution to the organization's larger objectives.
- Could you tell me about your experience in a prior role that was comparable to this contract position, and specifically, how you excelled at identifying and securing top-tier candidates?
Teaching Artist
For the interview, I had to do a teaching demonstration. The administrator who introduced me to the kids started by yelling at them. I wasn't given enough info about the students' skill level on their instruments. Afterward, I was asked why I let them touch their bows.
- What would you change if you were to perform the teaching demonstration again?
