Financial Reporting Manager
The hiring manager met me at reception and without introducing herself, had me follow her to her office. She didn't offer me a drink and started asking about my background like an interrogation. I spoke for about 30 minutes. She said she didn't have time for my questions but would give me a few minutes at the end. I asked about her expectations for the position and she seemed to like that. I then asked about how top management weighs corporate functions to gauge the culture, and when I tried to clarify, she got offended and yelled at me. The talent acquisition specialist did come in and was nice, introducing herself and validating my parking. People I passed on the way to the manager's office were also nice. I felt I wasted 3 hours driving for a worthless interview and told the recruiter I didn't want to move forward.
- Can you give me a rundown of your resume?
- Can you share examples of processes you have worked on?
- What have you been researching recently?
Accounting Specialist
It started with some basic questions, a few hypothetical scenarios, and a run-through of my resume. I had to go over my resume a few times since I spoke with different execs. They also gave me a skills assessment. It wasn't too crazy overall.
- How would you rate your Excel skills?
- Can you describe your experience with Excel?
- What's your proficiency level with Microsoft Excel?
Industrial Engineer
They reviewed my resume, focusing on my Microsoft Office and Excel skills. They also asked about my previous job roles and how they could be applied to this position, and if I have experience multitasking or handling different projects.
- How would your past experience apply to the duties of this role?
Administrative Customer Service
I saw the job on Craigslist and had a phone screen. The phone screening was good, but the interview itself didn't go so well. It's a gamble here. There are three different interviewers. If you get a short Hispanic woman, good luck.
