First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WAND Corporation.
Sales Executive
The interview process has changed since, but it was a basic interview. Intitally you had to answer 10-12 questions that you submit with your salary requirements. Secondly you do an interview over the phone with the sales manager or human resources dept. After making it hrough the intitial screening you do an on-site interview with the sales manager or VP of Sales. It was a straight forward process. They left the behavioral type questions out, as that is somewhat of a waste when dealing with sales reps. I was asked to sell the pen in the room to the sales manager, and that was the most influential part of it. The ability to qualitfy and identify what their needs were got me the job.
- Have you previously worked in a family-owned business setting?
- Please attempt to sell the pen that is in this room to the sales manager.

The HR person was professional on the phone. Then I had a group interview with four people from the department, which was one of the worst interviews I've had because of the interviewers' demeanor and irrelevant questions. They seemed cocky and threatened, asking personal and job-description-unrelated questions, including many on programming languages even though none were listed in the job description. They didn't seem interested in knowing my skills or experience. After that, I interviewed with the group manager, who mostly asked about programming languages despite no requirements for them. He also spoke poorly of some group members. Overall, the vibes were negative, and even the front desk staff were unfriendly.
- Would you prefer Coke or Pepsi?
- Which cartoon is your favorite to watch?
- Could you tell me about your experience with programming languages?
Software Developer
Applied on company's website and then got invited for a phone screen. After that, advanced to an in-person interview where I was interviewed by the leading engineer who seemed really nice. Up to this stage, their interview/hiring process was occurring efficiently. I left the in-person interview with a promise that I would hear a final decision in 72hrs, but it's been almost four weeks and never heard a single word from the company.
- Can you provide examples of Agile Development environments you have experienced?
Project Manager
The interviewer was really open and honest about the company, its history, and the downsides. It felt like a low-pressure interview. I wasn't a fan of them taking my drivers license when I arrived and holding onto it until I left.
- Tell me about your hobbies and free time activities.
- What are some interests you have outside of work?
