The interview process started with an initial call where they talked about my work history and if I was interested in the job. They told me the base salary was 65K and set up an in-person interview with a lead PM and PE. This interview was 30 minutes and included a compensation discussion where they asked, "What do you make now?" This question caught me off guard and I found it unprofessional and out of bounds because it's illegal to ask in CA. This question was asked two more times by W&W and twice by their HR Manager. Future candidates, do your research and prepare for this, and remember to mention the CA Salary History Ban. The next step was a 2nd in-person interview with the President of the department, one-on-one.

I met with about 6 senior engineers, associates, and an HR person in a conference room. They were super nice and kept things relaxed, asking normal interview questions. It wasn't stressful at all, actually pretty fun. I didn't get an offer in the end, but they did follow up like they said they would and seemed genuinely hopeful I'd get one soon.

The people were pleasant to speak with, though the managers were a bit intense, which is typical. The initial phone screen went well, but the in-person interview didn't require masks. Overall, it was a 4 out of 10 experience.
