I had an initial chat with a design manager who asked me basic questions about school and then delved into design questions related to my resume projects. The interview concluded with questions about Reactions and Strut-tie diagrams. Following that, principals asked me some personal questions about my interests and career goals, but no design-specific problems. Later, two Engineers took me to lunch nearby, which was a pleasant conversation.

I applied online for a graduate engineer position and was contacted about an opening. They asked for my transcripts and three references. After I sent those, I was invited for an interview. Since the office was far away, they covered all my travel expenses. When I got there, I first met with HR and learned about the benefits. Then, I spent the rest of the day meeting with nine other employees with various years of experience. They took me to lunch near the office. The whole day was set up to give me a feel for the office, and the questions were general about my education and experience. They made sure I had time to catch my flight home at the end of the day. My expenses were reimbursed quickly, but they didn't get back to me when they said they would, so I had to reach out to them.

Before the interview, we had to complete a questionnaire where we had to solve 25 questions in 40 minutes. Shortlisted candidates were then evaluated based on their performance in that test and their answers. It was essentially about explaining why we chose a particular option, designed to assess our fundamental concepts. It was a really good way to gauge a candidate's basic knowledge.
