I applied for a role that was identical to what I'd done for years at other film studios. I was confident I could do the job and was really excited about the interview. A big plus was my fluency in a specific foreign language that the role required. The interview was on Zoom with two interviewers in London and another city in Europe. From the get-go, the conversation felt really stiff and awkward, very corporate and sterile. They asked the same old template questions without any flow or enthusiasm, which I found really odd. It was clear that with my years of identical experience, I could do this role perfectly from day one with minimal training. The weirdest part was never hearing back after the interview. I even followed up TWICE with HR for feedback, but got nothing! I thought that was so unprofessional and poor. It was genuinely one of the strangest interview experiences I've ever had.

The process has 4 steps. It includes an SQL handling assessment, an interview with leaders, and an interview with a third party. They focus on getting to know you, your English proficiency, and your way of explaining things and your logic.

I was ghosted by a company that values customer service, which was a reason I was excited to join them. The recruiter called, liked my resume, and scheduled an interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager conversation went well, and they wanted me to speak with VPs and peers. Peer interviews were light, likely courtesy interviews. VP interviews were not challenging, but I know they didn't go as well as I'd hoped. It seems the hiring manager's needs for the role, which I would have been perfect for, didn't align with the VPs' expectations, making it awkward. I tried to recover, but it was tough. I'm objective enough to know that some interviews go well and some don't. I still have some hope, maybe it wasn't as bad as I thought, so now I wait to hear from the recruiter. I wait. And wait. And wait some more. I figure they're busy and probably still interviewing, so I'll email the recruiter for an update. Crickets. Maybe they missed it, so I'll send another email. More crickets. It's been over 6 weeks with no update. I suppose I might still hear from them since I haven't heard anything, but why no update? Why no response to my emails? Why leave me hanging, regardless of my performance? I don't deserve this, and I expect more from this company.
