Started with a phone interview, and then if that went well, I had an on-campus interview. The on-campus interview had 5 rounds: I met with the hiring manager, the VP of the division, a group of peers, a group of students, and the GAs who would work under me. Lastly, I met with the University President.

The interview process was really awkward. No initial recruiter call or phone screen, just one in-person interview. It felt really disorganized, like they weren't prepared and didn't know what they were supposed to ask. It was only about 20 minutes long and they just asked really basic background questions, didn't really test my knowledge at all. Honestly, probably not worth your time.

I had in-person interviews with people. There were three stages. First, I met office staff, then some middle managers. Finally, I met with senior management and administration. The last interviews weren't about the job itself, but more about my vision and if I'd fit with the university. The issue with this last part was that the interviewers didn't seem to know much about the actual job and what it entailed. They just talked about big-picture stuff that didn't really apply to where I was in the process.

I had several interviews with about a dozen people in total over a 3-day period, some were panel interviews and some were one-on-one, all via Zoom. It was a lot crammed into a very short time and I found out about some of them pretty last minute. They seemed to really like me based on what they said to me and my references, and they kept adding more people to interview with, all the way up to the President. But then, even though they promised I'd hear soon, I next saw the job was reposted just days after I interviewed and I haven't heard from them at all. Just ghosted.
