Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wallet Hub.
Senior QA Engineer
So, you'll get this take home assignment where you gotta build a basic framework that meets some specific criteria. Then there's an HR interview where they'll ask you some basic stuff like why you wanna leave your current job and what you're looking to make salary-wise. Lastly, there's a technical interview.
- What's your reason for wanting to leave your current position?
- Could you share your salary expectations?
QA Engineer
I was reached out on LinkedIn by HR for a remote QA opening at WalletHub. The JD was sent and it seemed perfect for my role, it was for Manual QA. I responded and they sent two tests: one to test and write test cases for a main feature on their website, and another was a situational analysis question. I completed and sent back both tests before the deadline. Within an hour, they responded saying they were not moving forward with my application due to the manual QA test results and suggested reapplying after 12 months. I feel this is unfair. They asked me to be specific with instructions so another tester could follow them easily, which means they likely used my work on their features with their own testers. It feels like cheating, they get the work done in the guise of interviews. Be careful when responding to them.
- Can you prepare test scenarios and test cases for one of the features on their website?
- What is the ideal number of users to test a certain feature on their site?
QA Engineer
I got an email and then had to do some tests, specifically 2 manual and 2 automation ones. The HR person said I could reach out with any questions during the tests. If I passed, there were 3 more interview rounds: the first with HR and a Senior person, the second with the QA Lead, and the last one with the CEO.
- Standard HR questions to assess if you're a good fit personally.
- Do you have prior QA experience with both manual and automation testing? This would make things easier.
