First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Walker-Miller Energy Services.
Program Manager
A recruiter reached out to me. We had an initial 1-hour screening call. Following that, I had two 1-hour interviews. For the second interview, I had to submit a writing sample and give a short ~5 minute presentation using Powerpoint. They said I'd hear back within a week, but I never did.
- Can you share an example of a project you managed that was successful and tell me the reasons for its success?
User Experience Designer
A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn after seeing my application for a phone screen. The call was alright, I answered their questions and asked some of my own to learn more about the role but didn't get much info. I followed up a few times and got vague responses, one saying I'd have to interview again, so I gave my availability and then got ghosted. I was really interested in this job and the company seems good, but this whole thing felt a bit unprofessional.
- What are your views on sustainability?
- What's your perspective on DEI?
Energy Specialist
I sent in my application online and after about two weeks I got a call to schedule an interview. I had to drive to Detroit for it. It took them a little over a week after the interview to give me an offer, and then another two weeks before I started the job.
- What's your approach to dealing with a dissatisfied customer?
Engineer
I talked with at least three HR folks. It was an open, friendly, and skill-based interview covering core competencies. We discussed relocation versus commuting. The role was initially offered to someone else who declined it. Then, I was contacted about a contract-to-hire position. Even though it was the same role, contractor HR vetted me twice. I'm okay with the job. I think they ended up with a better employee than they anticipated, suggesting their evaluation process might favor candidates with a clean record over more qualified ones with minor issues.
- What motivates you?
