Visitor Experience Associate
The HR person seemed pretty subpar during the initial phone call. They were kinda awkward and didn't sound enthusiastic at all. They actually gave me their personal cell number and then emailed me to set up the interview. The biggest hiccup was that they told me the wrong day and time over the phone. Then, in the email, they didn't even confirm the time, so I showed up when they initially said, but nobody was expecting me. The email also had this weird part where it said I was selected for an interview, followed by some generic parking directions that didn't even apply to me because I wasn't driving. It was super frustrating because there was no clear confirmation of the interview time/date or any alternative instructions for someone not driving. After we sorted out the confusion when I arrived, they told me the correct time and date in person. But then, after I left, I got another email changing the time again. Once that was finally set, I got a standard HR email from Walker Art Center with more info, but still, it only had parking instructions.

Department Coordinator
Applied for this position in the summer of 2022, excited because I felt this position aligned well with my interests and experience. A member of the HR team reached out to me shortly after submitting my application for an interview on Teams. We confirmed a time to connect a few days later. I hopped on Teams for the interview at the correct time but no one showed up. I waited about 10 minutes and still no one so I emailed the HR person I was supposed to be meeting with to check in. I also emailed the main HR email account just in case I didn’t have the right email address and stayed on the Teams call just in case she showed up. No one joined and no response. I followed up the next day via email to both the HR person and the main HR email account asking if we could reschedule as maybe there was a miscommunication or something happened. Nothing. Such a weird experience. I can’t say I’ve ever been ghosted by an interviewer before, but I guess there’s a first for everything.

Associate
I had 2 pre-screening interviews. One basic call, one Teams web-interview. The second was clearly a mistake we did the same pre-screening twice. She purposefully mentioned not 'ghosting' applicants. Five weeks later I got another fairly disorganized sounding email about an interview. I reached out with no follow up. What is going on? Poor professionalism.

Manager of Programs
I had an initial virtual screening and was scheduled for another interview. On the day of the interview, they emailed about needing to reschedule, which was fine. When I called to try to reschedule, they seemed hesitant to commit to a date/time and said they would call back. I followed up again several days later when I didn’t get a call back. I attempted to contact someone several times and when they did finally call back, nearly 2 weeks after they needed to reschedule my interview, they assured me they were still interested in me as a candidate and said they would call me back within the hour. 5 days later they called to tell me they were moving ahead with another candidate. The communication was terrible, sporadic and unprofessional. It felt like they wasted a lot of my time and effort.
