Product Manager
The interview process happened a few years ago, first I talked to HR, then the hiring manager, and then some team members.
- Could you share a professional accomplishment you're proud of?
Product Manager
HR reached out via email asking me to complete a questionnaire. Soon after, I had a call with the hiring manager where they gave me a business case problem. I was told I passed within a few days and advanced to an in-person interview. This took place downtown, though there was some confusion about the location between offices. I interviewed with a peer and the hiring manager's manager. The session with the senior manager went okay, but the one with the peer didn't go so well. They both asked very specific questions about what I'd do on day 1 with new features. I mentioned I'd get up to speed on their application, do competitive analysis, and understand corporate objectives. I also brought up research I did on feature shortcomings compared to competitors. The peer asked a tricky question, turning it negative and putting me on the defensive. We didn't connect, and I didn't feel good about it. She offered to answer more questions via email later but never responded, which I found unprofessional. A few days later, HR told me they were passing on me, giving candid feedback that I blew the interview with irrelevant answers and frustrated the interviewers. I found this funny given my prep. It seems Walgreens eCommerce favors specific MBA grads who might approach problems differently.
- What is the worst feedback your previous employer would give about you?
- What would you do on day 1 with new features/functionality?
- What would you do on day 1 with new features/functionality?
Product Manager
I had an initial phone call scheduled with a recruiter. On the interview day, they never called me. The confirmation email gave a phone number in case of rescheduling, which I called twice. Both times, I was told, '...we'll reach out to the recruiter to get your interview rescheduled..watch out for a call or email from us.' It's been weeks and I haven't heard back.
- I was not called for the interview
