A recruiter hit me up on LinkedIn. We set up a technical screen with a Data Scientist. It had a LC medium and a math question. Both were fine. Then the next part was terrible: the interviewer they first scheduled never showed up. So they sent a new data science manager to do the interview. This interview was half resume review and half ML fundamentals. The interviewer went through my resume bullet by bullet, and asked for details. It was tough talking to this interviewer. He aggressively pushed for details on everything, even when I said I couldn't share specifics due to NDAs (like for research papers). He also seemed to think I only worked on one project per previous job and asked questions based on that. Weirdly, he wouldn't answer some of my questions. I didn't hear back after the last interview, so I guess it was a rejection. I don't even care to ask for an update.

I interviewed for a remote Senior Data Scientist position. The process involved a couple of interviews with the hiring manager and a Senior Data Scientist already on the team. The hiring manager focused on behavioral questions and statistics, while the other interview delved into machine learning models. There were no live coding sessions. While the interviews themselves seemed to go well, the position was ultimately put on hold.

The whole thing took like 4 months. First, I did a phone screen, then I waited a whole month to hear back for the first round with the team lead. After that, it was pretty smooth, I had the second round with the team, and then met the team lead again for what I thought was the final round. I was expecting to hear back soon, but they took another 4 weeks to get back to me and asked for another final round with a new hiring manager. It's been another 4 weeks since that one and still no word. Not a great feeling.
