The interview process was made up of three separate interviews with key people. The first one was with the recruiter and it was helpful for preparing for the next two interviews. The second was with senior-level management where they identified management experience and the third was with director-level reps focusing on management and leadership experience. All three interviews and the people involved went well and I felt a lot of support from them. They were all very professional and encouraging.

I got through the first phone interview and it all went great until the end. Then they said they "recalculated" budget for the role and the pay range was severely under what was stated in the posted job description. They said they’d add my resume to the stack and I never heard from them again.

The interview felt friendly but still professional, and it was about how well I'd fit with the way Walden University delivers education and its overall mission. They wanted to hear about my background, especially my teaching and advising experience with doctoral students. I also had to respond to a hypothetical situation about disagreeing with another committee member when I was a doctoral student chair. They asked about my research expertise (qualitative or quantitative) and then asked me to write an assessment of a sample doctoral student prospectus within a week. After I agreed, I was able to ask any questions I had and then conclude the interview.

The interview process was smooth, thorough, and thoughtfully structured. It started with a recruiter screening call where they were encouraging, clear, and communicative about the role and next steps. Then, I had a chat with the hiring manager and a potential teammate, followed by a one-on-one with the hiring manager. Next, there was a panel interview with the broader team, and finally, a conversation with the VP. Throughout all the stages, the questions were scenario-based and reflective, with a strong focus on collaboration, communication, and cultural fit. Everyone I spoke with was thoughtful, intentional, and genuinely invested in the process, which made for a very positive experience.
