Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vungle.
Software Engineer
The recruiter was unavailable for the first two weeks and seemed new. He had to reschedule our initial call due to an 'emergency' meeting. During our eventual conversation, he couldn't provide much detail about the role and promised to connect me with the hiring manager. The hiring manager then asked me 7-8 technical questions. About a week after that, I was informed that I didn't get the job. When I inquired about the feedback, I was told that experience with Kafka and Spark was crucial, which I do have. This whole situation seemed disorganized and arrogant, reflecting broader company issues.
- Could you answer some questions regarding SQL?
- Tell me about your experience with Kafka.
- Tell me about your experience with Spark.
Software Developer
The interview had a technical phone interview and then an in-person interview with three people. The team seemed very young, everyone under 27-28. There seemed to be a lot of attrition. I didn't get a good vibe when visiting the office; people looked stressed, the office was full at 7 pm, and there was a bit of arrogance. It didn't feel like a good place for a 30-something family guy. The interview questions were straightforward and easier than what I've seen at MSFT, Google, or FB.
- Could you serialize a non-binary tree?
Software Engineer
So, after the initial HR chats, the process had a couple of main parts. First, there was a phone call with the Director of Engineering. We chatted about what they're building and my background, and I also had to do an online coding test. Then, the onsite part had three separate interviews, and all of those were focused on coding.
- Tell me about your experience.
- Can you describe the company's product?
- Complete an online coding challenge.
