First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at VUMC.
Clinical Research Coordinator
It was a quick and easy process, mainly a zoom call with the department's manager and director. I got an offer pretty fast and was able to pick a start date that worked for me and the team.
- Can you tell me about your research experience?
Communication and Fundraising Advisor
There were three interviews: two with people from the Communications Department and one with the client from the cancer center. In the first and second interviews with the same people, they kept asking the same questions, which could have been a tactic or just disinterest. The third interview was inspiring and gave me a sense of what the job would be like.
- What have you achieved so far?
- How did you achieve your goals?
- How do you handle setbacks?
Staff Pharmacist
I had a few interviews. For me, it was an in-person interview, but I know some other candidates had remote interviews. I went to the location and interviewed in a conference room with two people, who I think were a supervisor and a clinical manager.
- Can you describe your professional experience?
- Could you give some examples of when you worked in a similar role?
- Is the work environment something you'd be comfortable with?
Medical Secretary
I applied through the Reade website. Three weeks later, I got an invitation for an interview. The interview involved introductions from everyone, followed by specific questions about my motivation and work history. That same evening, I received a phone call saying that out of 7 good applicants, I wasn't selected because they felt I wouldn't fit their team!
