Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vulcan.
Manager
The interview process was thorough, respectable and clear. I was kept abreast of next steps and treated well by the recruiter. I appreciated the length of the interview as well as the follow on questions. I needed additional clarity regarding different entities of Vulcan.
- What are your salary expectations?
- Is working weekends something you are okay with?
Manager
The recruiter was super communicative, and the whole process from applying to getting rejected took about a month. Everyone I spoke to was nice and professional. Honestly, the recruiter and I should have been more thorough in the first call. We skipped straight from that to a long 3.5-hour onsite interview. Once I got to the onsite and met everyone, it was clear I wasn't the right fit. My skills were kinda close, but the job description just wasn't a match. It was a good chance to learn how to ask better questions next time.

Senior Manager
I interviewed with the company, starting with a phone screen and then an onsite interview. The onsite interview was pretty basic. One of the interviewers mentioned she wasn't sure what she was supposed to ask. As I'm in HR, I get that some people are new to interviewing and it's a learning process. I never heard back after the interview, which was disappointing. I'm sharing this in hopes that the recruiting team improves their candidate experience because mine was quite poor. From an HR perspective, I believe recruiters should always follow up with candidates who have interviewed onsite. It's a great company, and I wish them success.
