First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vrbo.
Inside Sales Representative
Applied online, then got a call from a recruiter who was nice and talked about the job details and my career change goal. They told me the process: phone interview, online test for sales personality, and if I passed, an in-person interview. I passed the online test and scheduled the in-person interview. The office environment seemed chill, but the interviewers were late. One interviewer asked good job-related questions, but the other was rude and asked irrelevant questions about my previous industry. After the interview, I did a shadowing session which was useful and showed the job functions. I never heard back after sending thank you notes.

Inside Sales Representative
Recruiter called me a few days after I sent my resume. First, a phone call with a recruiter. Then, an online test for sales skills, which I passed. Finally, an in-person interview. It all happened in the same week. I liked the recruiter on the phone, but the hiring manager and another sales director I met were a huge letdown personality-wise. I realized this wasn't the place for me if they were going to be my managers. They claimed it was to check if I was a 'good fit' for the company culture, but then hit me with the usual, dull, situation-specific questions like 'how did you handle a tough coworker' and 'tell me about a time...'. After the interview, I shadowed a sales rep to see the job – that person was really nice. Looking back, given how indifferent/rude the interviewers were, I could've skipped the shadowing. I felt unwelcome and am actually glad I didn't get an offer. The recruiter let me know a couple of days after the interview, which I'm grateful for. They'll want precise numbers, so know your daily call volume, quota, etc., or just make it up.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to manage a challenging coworker?
- Walk me through your typical sales procedure.
- Describe a time you encountered a problematic customer.
Inside Sales Representative
I interviewed with two sales managers and the Director of Sales. They asked a lot of questions to check out my sales personality and see if I would be a good culture fit. All the managers were nice and really direct. They asked good questions and were upfront that they need people with experience and who are also kind. They made it clear that nobody wants to work with mean people.
- How do you respond to change?
- Can you describe a challenging experience?
- Walk me through your sales process.
