The interview process was very unprofessional. I got an email saying I was being considered and a 15-minute Zoom interview with the recruiter was scheduled for days later. I waited, and she showed up two minutes before it was supposed to end. She joined the call with her video off, even though mine was on the whole time. She did apologize and sent an email saying she was running late, which I saw after the interview. The interview started by discussing my salary expectations. Then, I was asked obvious questions I'd already answered online when applying. She then asked about my web portfolio, and I mentioned it was in my cover letter, along with the password. The questioning became negative, with the recruiter suggesting I wasn't a good fit because the job apparently required full-time studio photography, which wasn't clear from the job description. It sounded like I'd be doing the work of four people. Considering the company's website promotes a flexible culture, they didn't seem to offer a humane opportunity to prove myself during the hiring process. What a shame.

I had two interviews, the first was informational, and the second was with my potential boss. Both went really well and were pretty low-key. I think I did okay, but I bet they went with someone who had more experience, especially in journalism where it feels like everyone is overqualified.
