First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Volvo Group.
Software Engineer
I went through two rounds of interviews. The first was a behavioral interview with two interviewers, which went pretty well. The second round also had two interviewers, but it involved a live demo of a project and answering questions about the code, and unfortunately, this one didn't go so well.
- The first interview included behavioral questions about your previous projects and technical background, but they didn't ask for detailed explanations.
- The second interview required you to create a small project, live demo it, and then answer questions about the code.
Software Engineer
I applied for the Software Engineer role. First, I had a chat with the HR manager. This was an introductory meeting where they went over my resume, explained the job, and talked about the company. If that went well, I moved to the next round. The second round was technical. I had to answer a bunch of technical questions. I also met the team I might join, and they checked for chemistry. If everything was good, I had a final meeting with HR. They asked again about my motivation and salary expectations. Finally, if that was positive, they made an offer. I thought the whole process was very professional and the communication was great. Unfortunately, the offer and the somewhat traditional culture at Volvo Group didn't really fit me.

Applications Developer
The interview process involved two main stages. Initially, there was a conversation with a representative from the HR agency, where they went over the job details and asked standard HR-related questions. Following that, Volvo conducted their part of the interview. This session was led by both a Delivery Leader and a Developer. They discussed the project, the technologies we'd be using, our development methodologies, and the team's culture. Additionally, there were some technical questions related to .NET, SQL, and web development in general.
- Could you explain the SOLID principles?
