Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Volvo Group.
Industrial Engineer Intern
It started with a quick initial phone screening with some basic questions. Then, there was a scheduled 30-minute phone interview with the hiring manager, which mainly covered my past experience and standard interview questions. The final stage was another phone interview with the hiring manager and three other engineers where I was asked a lot of technical questions, but it wasn't too difficult.
- Can you share an instance where you applied a lean methodology in a previous role?
Reliability Engineer
I sent in an online application. The hiring manager called me a few days later and asked me about my college studies and my interests. I briefly talked about my studies and then went into more detail about the energy audit project I was working on. The manager said HR would be in touch. I waited about 6 to 9 weeks with no contact. Then HR called and asked if I was still on track to start on the original date. They spoke as if I had already been hired, which was confusing. I had to do a background check and a hair drug test. The background check results took about 4 weeks.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Manufacturing Engineer
They scheduled a phone interview. After my interview, I followed up after a week, then 3 weeks and then 2 months. They never responded. I followed up only because I felt my interview went well and I did good. A simple " We do not want to proceed with your application" would take two minutes which could have saved my 10 minutes. Job search is a difficult phase, it's time human resources department puts back the human in it.
