Account Manager
A founder reached out to me to apply for an Account Manager position. The interviews weren't too bad, although the interviewers were consistently late. In the end, I didn't get the job. They sent an email with a generic response and no feedback, which felt impersonal. It seemed like they weren't sure what they needed or were looking for a perfect fit. I didn't hear back after I thanked them and asked for feedback, especially since I was referred.
- How would you handle multiple important clients and their competing requests?
Account Executive
The recruiter was upfront about how the interview process would go. There were 4 interviews in total, and then a mock pitch at their office. They asked some tough questions during the pitch, checking my preparation, but it was all pretty standard stuff.
- How does our business model compare to major competitors like Ticketmaster and StubHub?
Customer Experience Specialist
A founder contacted me on LinkedIn to encourage me to apply. My first interview was with the Head of Operations, and the second was with a supervisor for this role; both were virtual. My third interview was planned with two founders in NYC. I traveled there, but only met with one of them. Afterward, I met with the other founder and one more person virtually. After five interviews, I thought I was doing well, but I didn't get an offer. Apparently, the job required more than 40 hours a week, which is what I was willing to commit, so it seems like it worked out for the best. The interviews felt pretty casual overall.

Senior Software Engineer
I was contacted by the company on LinkedIn. The first interview was with HR, where we discussed the job, work-life balance, and salary. I felt there was a good understanding of expectations. Then, I had another talk and an initial test. I had to follow up to learn about the next steps, which was a bit unusual. After that, I interviewed with a head engineer, which was friendly and informative. Next, I was given a take-home assignment. Initially, I was told I'd have a week, then 3 days, and finally that it only takes 2 hours, despite my busy schedule. I spent about 5-6 hours on it, and it was interesting and relevant to the project. After submitting, I was told I'd hear back in two days, but I had to follow up again. I was then told the head engineer would reach out by the end of the week. The next day, HR contacted me, impressed with my solution, and invited me to talk to the CTO. They also asked for feedback, and I mentioned my concerns about the interview process. The following Monday, I received an email stating they didn't think they were the 'right company' for me, and they wanted to discuss it further. They said it wasn't about salary or my skills but that they are a 'messy' company and can't always be punctual. I expressed understanding but also highlighted my expectation for respect for my time and effort. They responded, 'this is how they work,' and I felt my feedback was taken as an insult. Overall, I went through 6 rounds and 2 tests, only to be told they are 'messy' and don't respect time. This is from a company that reached out to me. Technically I got the job, but they changed their minds because they couldn't handle constructive criticism. I hope this helps other candidates. The place seems chaotic, lacking resiliency and strong management, at least from my experience.
