So you apply online and then like a person will call you and ask you some questions about your application and why you want to do it and why you'd be a good fit. Then they'll set you up with an interview with the lead scribe or maybe a few lead scribes from that area and then you'll do a zoom call interview. And from there, they'll either get back to you or not. But during the zoom interview, they'll do some skills test to check your skills and your typing speed.

So I was contacted by a recruiter from India on LinkedIn for an engineering role. I mentioned my background is more in design/architecture, but I'm open to engineering if the hiring manager agreed. He just sent over questions about my salary expectations and current salary, plus some platform questions. I answered. Then he asked about tools not on my resume, and I stopped responding. The next day, he set up an interview with three engineers via LinkedIn for the next day at 11. No invite, no screen, nothing. I said I couldn't do it that soon and needed 3 more days. He scheduled it for the time I wanted via Google Meet, still no info on who or what. He later updated the engineers' roles on the invite I joined. Four people were there: three Vituity engineers and one from the agency. Cameras off for them, I turned mine off too. Recruiter messaged me to turn it on. So I talked to four people I couldn't see, had bad audio/echo, and they didn't introduce themselves. One just said they'd ask about something and went straight into a technical scenario with systems I don't know. Felt like a trap. I told them it wasn't what we agreed to. The recruiter got defensive, so I left. I think they might be looking for business integration engineers, and because Vituity handles patient data with HIPAA, they can't offshore some of it. So they're hiring someone in Canada/US via a third-party agency. Doesn't seem like Vituity's usual recruiting. Felt like a badly run outsourced process using their name.

Got an email from a recruiter to do a phone screen, then we talked the next day about my job history and some info about the position. After that, I got an interactive assessment to do and a video interview with 2 practice admins set up. I finished the interview with the 2 practice admins and was told I'd hear back after I completed a schedule puzzle. Once I emailed the puzzle back, I never heard anything from the recruiter or the 2 practice admins, so I just stopped trying. This was probably one of the worst interview processes I’ve been through because of the lack of communication. It was also weird that I got the same exact phone screen email from the same recruiter again 2 weeks later.

Had a first chat with two directors who were friendly. They mentioned a salary range of 90-130k, but admitted they probably couldn't offer more than 110k, which felt a bit misleading. Then I interviewed with some engineers. I did a take-home technical task that took a few hours and they liked my work. Later, someone who recently joined the team put me on the spot. After I said I don't do Leetcode, they sprung an unexpected coding challenge on me. In front of 7 people on the panel, they asked a Leetcode question (best day to buy stock) to try and stump me. They succeeded in making me look incompetent. For a data engineer role, especially at that salary, most candidates aren't grinding Leetcode.
