First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vitalyst.
Performance Leader
This wasn't a bad interview process. It had 3 steps: first you chat with HR, then you talk to 2 other managers. They kept the whole thing moving pretty fast.
- Tell me about your past experience.
Change Management Consultant
Had 3 rounds of interviews. They really wanted to see my personality and if I could be myself. They let me know right away if I was a good fit. They gave me good feedback on what I could improve and how I could grow in the company.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
Consultant
You won't get a typical interview call. Instead, they'll email you to schedule a skills test before considering you for an interview. This skills testing includes a lengthy Excel assessment (expect 30 mins for experts, up to 1.5 hours for others), a typing test, and two personality assessments (one for cognitive ability and one for personality traits). It really does take about two hours, despite what you might think. If you pass these tests, they'll set up a second interview right away. This second interview is more like a chat, with one current employee and one manager. They'll mostly explain the job, and you'll be asked only a few questions about your background and personality. The whole process, from start to finish, can take around a month.
- The Excel test is quite long and challenging.
- Tell me about your experience with Excel.
- What is your typing speed?
Help Desk Technician
I initially took two online tests, an IQ test and a skills test, both of which I passed back in 2008. I got an email confirmation and submitted my resume. Later, I got a voicemail for a phone interview, but when I called back, nobody could help me reach the person, so I left a message that he never returned. Fast forward to 2011, my friend, who had previously been rejected for this role after an Excel test and an on-the-spot interview, was suddenly contacted about the same position and the same person from PC Helps who wanted to hire him. My friend did a phone interview and then three in-person interviews, which were more like explanations of the job duties. He was offered a two-year contract with a clause to pay for training if he left early, which he signed and started the job. I decided to re-apply. I submitted my resume again and almost immediately received the same email. When I called to complete the phone interview, I was told to take an Excel test instead, which was a red flag. I scheduled the test and received a confirmation email with conflicting information about parking and procedures, another red flag. When I arrived for the Excel test, I was given a fill-in personality test and had to fill out another job application. Then, I was put in a room to take the same personality test again (both online and scanned version) and the IQ test I had passed in 2008. The administrators were incompetent, giving different answers to the same questions to different applicants. I was then told I needed to take a typing test, even though I was only scheduled for the Excel test. The typing test software malfunctioned and inaccurately reported my speed as 20 WPM. When I mentioned the software issue and my concerns, the admin said 'nobody cares so don't worry.' Finally, they set up the Excel test, but the applicant name on the screen was incorrect. After they fixed that, I was told I had to retake the IQ test because the results didn't reach the boss. At this point, I lost all interest in working there due to the disorganization and untrained staff. I decided to take their disorganized, typo-ridden 12-page Excel 2003 test for fun and left. This company clearly lacks an HR department, is disorganized, and seems sketchy. They claim results take a week, but that's a lie. I will not accept an offer if they call.
