First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vital Farms.
People Operations Specialist
The interview process started four weeks after applying. I got a call from the recruiter and during the conversation, she was clear about next steps and the whole process in general. Even though I didn't get an offer in the end, it was a great experience. Throughout the interview steps, I got to meet most of the team and connect on a level that made the interview feel more relaxed.

Marketing
The interview process started smoothly, but the final stages dragged on for over six weeks. It involved six calls, two online tests, and a final project presentation. While I get that projects are key to seeing what candidates can do, the whole thing felt like it was set up for people who aren't currently working. They only offered interview slots during the workday, meaning I had to use PTO for calls and also for the in-person interview, without any hotel or meal reimbursement. I really liked Vital Farms' mission, but they need to think about how much a candidate can actually produce in a 48-hour project when they're working full-time and have to travel for the interview in that same window.

Executive Assistant
I recently went through the interview process for an EA position at Vital Farms. It seemed like everything went well, and they were really interested in me. I had a total of 5 interviews, which took about 3 hours, plus I completed two assessments. They were moving pretty fast, but after the 5th interview, I didn't hear anything for 8 days. I followed up twice, and still no response until they sent a generic email. The recruiter mentioned they were happy to discuss feedback over a call, so I replied because I wanted to know what they thought, but again, they went silent. It was pretty disappointing.

Director of Consumer Insights
I reached out to a Vital Farms team member on LinkedIn and expressed my interest in the Director, Consumer Insights role because my background in food/retail matched it. This led to an interview with the talent acquisition manager. The conversation was very high level and vague. I suspect the hiring manager didn't like my resume or my salary expectations were too high, as my current Senior Manager salary is higher than their Director offer. The following week, the talent acquisition manager emailed to say I wasn't selected, without providing specific reasons, which is pretty typical. The process felt strange because the person who secured the initial interview couldn't get me a conversation with the hiring manager, even though they liked my background and initial chat. Ultimately, their compensation wasn't competitive for a Director position.
