Quality Assurance Officer
I had a 15-minute screening call with a recruiter, then a face-to-face interview in mid-December 2016. The interview focused on normal scenarios and my personal experiences. I felt I connected well with the hiring manager and thought my chances were good. They said I'd hear back by the first week of January. When I didn't, I followed up around January 20th, and the recruiter said she'd check with the hiring manager, who was on vacation. I didn't get a response, so I followed up again in early February with no reply. On March 15th, the same hiring manager called about a new position that opened up, saying she remembered me from our interview and enjoyed meeting me. She asked similar questions as the first time, along with another manager. I was told I'd hear back by the end of that week, but still haven't. I find it unprofessional that they didn't keep me informed, especially since I was professional with them. I spent time with my family there previously and won't return, and will discourage others from going.

Concierge Marketing Representative
I found the job posting on a university website and applied online. An HR rep contacted me via email. I made it to two interviews, both phone calls since I don't live nearby. The first interview was straightforward with questions about me, my knowledge of the location, and recommendations. I mentioned I'd only visited but was interested. For the second interview with the hotel's marketing manager, they added another manager from a different hotel, which I wasn't thrilled about. They asked situational questions about past experiences, then probed more about the location and customer recommendations, focusing on restaurants rather than activities. They then asked if I could give directions over the phone, and I wasn't sure if I could use a map, so I felt unprepared. Since I'm not local and not super familiar with the area, I couldn't answer these. We then role-played a scenario where I had to convince a customer to sign up for timeshare tours. I was discouraged at this point and withdrew from the process. I felt like my time was wasted because they seemed to want someone local who knew the area well, despite advertising the role to people far away. They should have screened for this knowledge earlier or posted the job on more appropriate platforms like LinkedIn and the company website.
- Can you provide directions over the phone to certain locations from the hotel?
- Let's do a role-play: I'm seeking a restaurant recommendation, and you will attempt to persuade me to participate in timeshare tours, with the incentive of a $100 voucher for the customer.
Java Consultant
I applied through a recruiter and the whole process spanned about 3 to 4 weeks. The interviewers were really friendly. They asked me questions related to my past projects and Java. Most of the questions were experience-based and really meaningful. We had a lot of discussion about my leadership and mentoring skills. They also asked about how I handle disagreements and resolve conflicts. They were curious about my code review, code quality, and documentation abilities.
- Can you describe how you've used the Java collection framework in various situations?
- What distinguishes an interface from an abstract class?
- Regarding Java 8, what is a default method and how is it used?
Sales
It was a straightforward, two-part interview process. First, a phone call with the recruiter to go over expectations, pay, and benefits. Then, a face-to-face meeting with the sales manager. The manager discussed job expectations, sales targets, and asked about my sales experience. They emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and discussed performance and bonus levels.
- What's your approach to handling an unhappy client?
